I had a smaller Grant wheel on my 65 GTO and found that reading the panel was difficult but not impossible.
I did finally put an original sport wheel on it making it a lot easier to see the panel....

Make sure your adjusting screws are installed properly, and are the correct screws.
Mine are well behind the bezel.
Also make sure you have the correct headlight bucket and it is installed...
