He has the PHS Docs on the car. They show the 389 with the Carter 4 barrel. They also state the auto 2 speed and the 323 rear end. But no motor number to the vin.

Hi everyone. I just installed a new Auburn Posi and 3.55 gear in my 68 GTO. Wow! what a difference going from a 2.78 open to the 3.55. Great acceleration! As you all know my speedometer is way off....

I agree Allen, as it is now when it reaches about 52-5300 RPM (according to the original Tach in the cluster) she's done! I need my max acceleration power before that point.

Ok runningbwdog but as it is now, I do nothing but smoke the rear right tire with the 2.78 open. When the tire gets grip is what I'm not to happy with. All that power and she is really not that fast...

Thanks Axlshaft. Yesterday I bought the rope seal at Advance, it was only $5.83. I am going to consult with my mechanic and push for the BOP. The price alone tells me it is a far superior product!

I'm in the same process. I almost bought a 3.23 posi that ends today on ebay but everyone thinks I should go with the 3.55. Between the posi unit the gears and the kit it's about $700 at Murrays...
