I've been running dexcool in all of my engines for years. Never had any issue with gaskets or scale, and always just use tap water.

Never heard of the dexcool is hard on gaskets thing before....

That's part of the beauty of the 17's. You get to keep the original tire size but have a shorter sidewall with a much wider tread. It is a win-win situation in my opinion.
