Test drive on a G8. My thoughts!!
Very good car yes. But it didn’t have any lower end torque. Off the line I stomped on it and it didn’t even break the wheels loose. Power comes on slow until about 3.5 or 4k and then feels ok but the car does not feel like a 361 hp car. My firebird would tear this think up. Thoughts!!!!

Most new cars have some kind of throttle management to prevent wheel slippage.

Did you turn the traction control off? Trust me, LSX cars don't FEEL quick of the line but at the end of the 1/4 you'd be surprised at what they are turning and the speeds at which they are going.

It's called torque management. They all have it and it can be removed by a tuner. I had my 6.0L Avalanche reprogrammed and it will spin the tires all day long if I wanted to. I even get a nice chirp on the 1-2 shift under heavy throttle.

Even the GTOs if you don;t have traction control turned off(a button) it's a dog off the line and if it does spin it kicks the pedal back and you almost eat the steering wheel.

I have a 2004 GTO and it won't spin the wheels with traction control on or off. When punched off the line, it delivers enough torque to keep the tires from spinning. There must be another way to eliminate torque management. One post I read suggested removing the fuse for traction control.
I wonder how 1/4 mile times compare with and without torque management. As old-school guys, we all think we can do better than the electronics. Anyone comment?

Look on the G8 board. A few folks are running solidly in the mid 12's with a tune, air box mod, and some have a cat back. Companies are coming out with convertors, intakes, headers, and any other part that you might want to change. The goal for some is to crack the 11 sec barrier without going into the engine.

Have it tuned with LS1Edit and remove the torque management.
