Those numbers at just FOUR lbs boost should clue you in on the potential. IMO there is more than enough under hood to go well below 9's ON pump gas. Actually glad he plans to turn it up a bit at a time. Good plan.

There should be at LEAST 1600 hp at 15 psi on a conservative tune if the turbo can supply enough air. A whole bunch more if intercooled.

Yeah he's going to have his work cut out to get that power to the pavement.

Congrats Doc!
That's awesome for first outing at this boost level. You have potential to go easy 8's with your combo at some nice conservative boost levels and even on pump gas. How did the tune feel like? What a/f readings did you get through the run?
Sounds and looks great from the video, looks like you had a rich mixture in it, smart move.

Kris

You don't need much "boost" on the gage when you have a 106mm turbo moving the air inside the engine. John Welter runs a 106mm turbo and has gone 6.80s. You really think it will be an issue to break into the 8s with that turbo on the car, LOL (:>)

I think there tons of power there to run 8's but is the car up to the task.I mean safety wise..cars that heavy need a special cage I think its 25.3 tag.A bonsai run into 8's would be great for bragging rights but not very practical. Then there stopping all that weight at 160 mph plus..just something to think about.

Tom I couldnt remember what turbo.(Thats why I stated IF the turbo can supply the air) I do know with his CV1 heads if he sees 15 psi on the gage there will be a LOT of pounds of air flow. I've forgot his flow numbers but thinkin around 400+ cfm. Conservative guesstimate 1600+hp at @15 psi on the boost gage. Heck a 270 cfm head at 15 psi can support 1000+ with the right turbo and intercooled.

How heavy is this car? I've seen lots of 2nd gens deep in the 8's and in the 7's as well. More tire would be nice, but setup properly a small tire caltrac car can put down some serious hp with a drag radial... Lots of guys doing it in the 7's and 8's - some faster yet! Best of luck with it!

Yes there is but most of those cars are built for that purpose. They are not 2nd gen firebird with cal-trac and a roll cage running low 8's or 7's.Those cars come from shops like DMC and other like it. Lets not kid our self it's not that easy ..
