Robb, I may have interest in one as well. My car is a 67 GTO, factory H.O. four speed and I run the original H.O. manifolds, is your starter going to install with these along with the four speed. The factory unit is a pain in the rear end to install with the cast iron headers and bell housing. Although I have never had a hot start issue the installation is a pain in the rear end to the point that if I run into a hot start problem I might as well fix it now with one of your designs. Please provide additional details when you have a free moment. ThankYou. (PM sent to you as well on the same topic).

Unlike other mini starters, the dimensions of our starter nose (the horizontal and vertical dimensions to the center of the pinion gear) are the same as a stock starter. So in most cases, the same number of shims you use with a stock starter will work with our starter.

The use of the standard or short gear has nothing to do with the shims. The shims effect how tightly the pinion gear meshes with the ring gear. The standard and short gears effect how far the pinion gear is from the ring gear when the starter is at rest. There should be .06 to .21" clearance between the pinion gear and the ring gear with the starter at rest. If the gap is less than .06", the short gear will be needed. Due to stack up of tolerances on the engine, you must bolt up the starter to determine if the short gear is needed. About 75% of the time the standard gear will work.

Tim, because the centerline of our starter motor is in the same exact location as the stock starter (unlike other mini starters), and because the diameter of our starter motor is much smaller than stock, our starter will fit anywhere a stock starter will fit, and you will have more clearance. As a bonus, you can rotate the solenoid to the position that gives you the most clearance and makes it the easiest to connect the wires.

Just received my starter today......nicely engineered piece. Won't be installing for awhile, but looks like a quality starter. Thanks Robb.

Robb, I just ordered a starter on your web site. I put my py username in the message to seller box at the end of the paypal payment form, is that the correct place to list it?

Bob

Perfect Bob.

Rebate at 7%.

Sales of our starters (all of them, not just Pontiac) have far exceeded our estimates for the past two weeks and we are waiting on more electric motors from the manufacturer. It may be two or three weeks before we can ship more starters.

Sorry for the delay and the poor planning on our part.

I will extend the offer until midnite October 31st to make up for the delay.

Starters can still be ordered now or wait until we have more in stock. Orders will be shipped in the order we receive them.

Thanks everyone for your patience.

Motors should be here the end of this week. It will probably take a week to modify them and and assemble. So I would say a week and a half at best.
