Hi I'm Ignacio this is an interesting want to me. I too have been hunting this unit down. But was told to go new because used one might not last long. I have seen some new ones for under 300 that are all original rebuilt and with the new reproduction sticker for 1970 it will work right? That was going to be my route. The ac muffler is also sold new I believe for about $250 I think I seen on ebay. I have condenser and ac box with blower and evap.

Come on Ignacio, After all your searching for original, you can't stop now. The guys at Original Air said find a good core and they could rebuild it. Also said they were fairly dependable. I guess we'll keep searching.

Im on vacation at present moment but be back in town in a few weeks I'll look. Do you know if compressor has date stamp too? Date stamps drive me crazy. Like my starter is 3 day out from.assembly and my replacement 12 bolt is 16 days oh well it's very hard to have it perfect . Do you know where I can find correct alternator too?

I'm not sure if Lemans is same as Bird, but you may want to post in GTO want ads as I don't look here much. If so. I just sold my original 72 to Original Air last month for $125. I went with a new style upgrade as many others do.

Just make sure it's rebuildable. Meaning the clutch spins and is not froze tight.

I'll look over there as well. Original said send them a core and they would rebuild.

I feel your pain. Going to need starter and alternator as well. AC compressor first since Original Air is restoring it now.

I got 2 open face alternators that will be new for ac car. But they are for 71. It's an option for you. Front looks the same amp is the same only difference is they redesigned the back. Let me know if you want one. I should have second rebuilt by mid feb.
