Just for fun
I don’t have the details on the cam that Paul is gonna spec for me yet but the details of my engine build so far are 455 block .30 over with a butler rotating assembly stroked to 467. 10.5.1 compression, Edelbrock heads ported to 310 Torker II intake and complete sniper EFI with dual sync distributor and timing control. Rearend is a 9 inch with 3.70s and trans will be the close ratio T56 running a 26 inch tall tire. My nephew built a true 429 cobra jet and put it in a 67 F100 with no exotic parts just a higher lift cam. He swears to god he’s gonna blow my doors off. I just don’t see it but if by some chance he does I will just roll my windows up and crank up the AC while he sweats to death in the SC heat. So what do you think? Does he have a chance

The winner will be the guy who can keep his tires planted the best.

Unless your Nephew finds a way to get traction out of the Ass end of a pickup truck without adding 300 to 400 lbs of sand bags at the tailgate then you have nothing to fear!
Oh, and by the way if he's running iron CJ heads then his motor is a good amount more in weight then yours will be which only serves to make the front to rear bias even more F'ed up for traction! Also with the power of a good 429CJ motor his top loader Trans should be breaking the case and spitting out gears real soon!

Answering questions like this one is why you race

I always had bad luck racing trucks, mostly short bed trucks.
And for some reason, 340 Dusters. Seems like you should have a few HP on him, and maybe 500 lbs lighter. Put some of those 90/10 shocks on the front of the GTO |

I thought you posted earlier that you weren't going to race this car.
See how long that lasted. Murf Sent from my Z936L using Tapatalk |

Just stop light to stop light fun. No dragstrips or slicks. My main concern will be keeping the tires from blowing off

Is the truck a automatic car?If so and you miss a shift or blow the tires off you might be toast!Tom

His is an automatic. It looks pretty sitting in the engine bay but that’s about all I can say for it. Got it running today and unless he finds some HP in some tuning then it’s just another Ford LOL

I spanked a 429 Torino with a bone stock 325 HP 389 in a 1966 GTO, 4 speed, and 2.93 gears. You should have no problem.

Now of all things he’s found a mustang II he thinks he’s gonna be able to cram it into. I don’t see it happening but if he does it will never live long enough to race me cause that car will fold like a tin can

460 in a Fox is done all the time. Should be easier than falling off a chair?

The mustang II is not a fox platform is it

If his Mustang was built between 1973-1978,than it is based on the Pinto platform. The Fox platform debuted around 1979. So if it's a real Mustang II it may well "curl up" body wise from the 429 torque. Should be interesting either way.

The CJ and SCJ 429 Torinos and Falcons were pretty tough in the Top Stock NMCA class I used to run in.
