Dick is right. Put on a tripower. Great seat of the pants feel and a sound at wot like no other ! Better yet when I had my car appraised the man said the tripower adds 25% value to the car. Truly a win win. konwal455gto

P.S. Have Dick build it you will not regret it!

If I am looking at your pictures correctly, it appears that your screw never did go up on the high step of the cam.
I thought where the line is on the cam is where the screw should set when the gas pedal is first pushed down before the engine is started.
Have not worked on an AFB in quite a few years, maybe Jon and others can agree or disagree with my recollection.

Yes, you can shut off the warm engine. Open the throttle slightly, hold the choke flapper shut. While holding it shut, close the throttle to idle position. Release the choke flapper. Then, you can start the engine with the fast idle cam in the full choke position. This allows you to set the idle just as you want it to be.

With cold engine, open the throttle to set the chokeblade closed.
If adjustment needed, losen the three screws at choke cover and turn cover to have the choke blade just closed, no more no less.

With choke blade fully closed check that fast idle screw touches the fast idle cam at the mark on cam. To adjust bend the rod to the choke blade.

With engine completely warmed up and fast idle screw on highest step of fast idle cam, at mark, set fast idle screw to give an Engine speed of 2500 rpm´s.

Picture from post #23, the secondary lock out is not engaged. But in post #22, pic 3 it is. ?? Time for a little lube perhaps? Maybe that will make for more consistent fast idle cam positioning.

Lubrication on carb linkages normally causes more issues than it fixes.

I saw the secondary lockout issue as well, but believe it is due to improper adjustment.

If the OP will read and follow Kenth's procedure (a couple of posts above this one), things should be good.

Jon.

You are sneaking up on it. GREAT JOB.

That AFB will START and run smooth like a top when you are finished with talking to the PY people.

The only thing I haven't adjusted was the fast idle when warm. It's set at about 2000 right now, I just can't imagine increasing it to 2500. Seems really high! Also I'm idling when warm at around 800 think I'll try dropping it a little, factory is 600 but I have a mild cam

Normally the vacuum pull off and a tap on the pedal should pull it off the high step right after start up.

But i dont see a pull off in pic's.
