What will probably stun everyone is that it looks so much better in pictures, or from 5 feet away. Regardless, I'll be proud to show it show it off.

I just read it in it's entirety.

You are one lucky man!
I love your little collection, and really appreciate you sharing all this with us - especially all the fantastic picture documentation.

I never understood why the 1971-1974 L75 Firebirds are more or less ignored - they are fantastic cars, and worth more than a cursory mention...

Did you ever end up locating and/or buying the original Honeycombs?
(you mentioned that you located them, and they were sitting in a guys basement)

Did you ever come to a final decision as to if your spare was an original wheel?

I find all these little details you've shared to absolutely fascinating.
Thanks. You are right that I am very lucky and fortunate.

As far as I can tell the spare wheel is original. It makes no sense that it would have the original spare tire, but a replacement wheel. I have not been able to procure the other four original wheels. I have offered a stack of cash, the wheels currently on the car, and shipping costs, and I have offered a bigger stack of cash and shipping costs. Neither got the deal done. The dealer in Michigan who pulled the original wheels (because the original Wide Ovals were still on them, and dry rotted to the point the car wouldn't roll) will not give me the name of his friend to whom he sold the wheels. He did say in our last exchange that his friend had the wheels "professionally" restored, which frankly caused me to lose a little interest. I had previously been under the impression that they were in great original shape and that was the reason his friend hated to part with them.

Nothing wrong with a car dealer! The one that sold this red car is a very good friend and stand up guy.

The four honeycombs are beyond mint and sitting in my rec-room!!

Gotcha - at that point I would be inclined to walk away too...

Nothing wrong with most car dealers and nothing wrong with Bob for sure. I have spoken to him several times and he seems very straight forward. He did a great job getting the car revived and going, and had the foresight to at least keep all the documentation with the car which was good.

I have to say my 72 didn't come with honeys. They were restored by previous owner of my car. Never even checked dates or really been concerned.

Now, if mine were off a car that someone stated they were his wheels originally.

I'd say the wheel goes round and round.

That's the market for all these wheels....

I finally got the Red Car finished, off the lift, and into the daylight. The car looks really good, both outside and in. The interior was stripped down to the carpet and thoroughly detailed, and the outside got a lot of manual labor correcting and polishing the paint. It looks pretty good and was well worth it.

On a different note, the Hemi Cuda broke down 3 or 4 weeks ago at the grocery store and I had to get the bagboys to give me a push start. Seemed like the starter solenoid. Me and MPD dug into that today and it turned out the starter was fine, but was about to fall off. The top bolt was totally out, and the bottom bolt was almost out. The solenoid was fine, but the stater gear was about a mile from the flywheel. WTF? It's now back on the road....

Here's a few pictures of the Red Car.

Excellent front spoiler and flares alignment. Seems like it's only one in a million that can be adjusted to get that "one piece" look. Well done!

Wow. The gap on the hood/ fenders appears perfect! All the detail work you have done on the car is evident, especially to a previous owner.

I really loved my 73 T/A 455 car. It went away during my divorce. I had it for 5 years & it was even in the GM calendar in 2000 as the April car. It was white with red interior 4 spd with A/C posi. I miss it bad. It went to Texas.

Thanks for that Rex, we miss your old car too.

Great job Bob & the driveway still looks great considering how many diesel undercarriage baths it's had done on it.
