Something else I forgot to mension.
My throttle stuck wide open at the finish line on my first pass last night.
That was SCARY. I kept hitting the peddle about six times and was
reaching for the key and the peddle came back up. Got back to the pits
and found two linkages rubbing together and one of the lock nuts wouldn't
let the linkage slide back pass the other. I was a little nervous on the next
pass but it's fine and good now. That gets your attention at a 124 MPH.

I have to alter the wheel opening in front of the tire that's where the smoke
is coming from, The track officials though it was oil.
Once I get that done I'll get it back to the track for more testing.
I've already done a couple things that made improvements.
I'll post next time I'm going to the track.

Nice pass. Do you come against the converter at all? Sounds like you left at near idle.

Doing Tech for the SCCA and the F-1 guys for 14 years, I saw a lot of issues with linkages, brake systems, fuel lines, bolts not being properly retained, etc.

Hard when you are by yourself, but sometimes having someone look at stuff under the hood while you are moving the gas pedal (similating a race) can find marginal clearance issues and other worn/old parts that need to be changed.

It is tough when you are doing 140 MPH to make a correction then. Years ago some used mechanical vs cable linkage and used a toe strap on the gas pedal to pull the linkage back into idle if it stuck.

Damb Good advise on the gas peddle Tom.
Yes Scott I was leaving real easy I was even letting it roll a bit then rolling
into the throttle cuz I wasn' t sure about traction, It was the first time out with this combination and
trying to learn what I could. I'm very happy with the drag radial but a
little trimming is needed for tire clearance. I'm sure it needs more converter.
I'm running out of time as Drag Week is getting closer. Hoping for a low 10
for now and after DW I'll make the changes it needs.

Default The 62 Tempest

I'll be going back to Martin tomorrow for some more testing
And to see if I can get the car to launch better to improve
the 60 ft's. About the only thing left to do for the drag week
tour is to put a trailer hitch on it and get it or me consistant.

A new best again-10.457@128.02 with A 1.52 60ft I'm getting
better with the car and there is still more.
Todd Rehr showed and Mike Leech and Scott Teiman was there also.
Mike give some good information, Can't wait to do a few little things
to it to get a little more power from the little 440 motor.
Man this thing is impressive, A little more dialing in and it'll be in the
bottom of the 10's. Thanks Mike really appreciate your input and good to
see ya again too.

Good job! Can you post a timeslip? I'd like to compare it to mine. What class in Drag Week?
