Default Valley Pan question #6.........

So I split my 65 valley pan and cleaned all the crud out of it. Got pretty aggressive with the angle grinder and now have a super shiny silver vp. It sat in the garage for a week and started to pick up some flash rust.

Obviously, the top side will get primed and painted blue, but what to do with the bottom and inside? Glyptal??? How do these surfaces stay rust free in the long run.

Apologies in advance for all the questions about the vp, but I seem to be stumbling on this part

Thanks !
Brad

In the long run, the oil mist inside the running engine will keep it from rusting.

Oil 'er up until it's time to install.

DeWayne

Got a spot weld cutter from Harbor Freight for $5 and went to town. Had it apart in 20 minutes. Friend is welding it back together.

I'd love to learn to learn more about metal and welding, but this isn't the car to be learning on

brad

Andre and Bart - I'll lube it up.. Felt like I was over thinking this one.

Good point,i've got a valley for my tripwr but I have concerns about how clean/rust free it may be internally.Been tempted to go with one of the nice aluminum ones now offered out there, but regardless it'd be nice to clean up the one I have.
