-5 F this morning. Today's high was 15. My heat pump is NOT happy. The house was 61 when I woke up this morning(thermostat set for 63). It's just now 68 with 3 locust logs in the fireplace. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 35. We'll see.........

Default 34 degrees

Celsius, that is. Sitting here in the lobby of the Riu Guanacaste in Costa Rica. On the web looking at the wind chill warnings back in Toronto. I think that I'll go for an evening swim with my new friends from Chicago.

Yea.....but you HAVE to go home sometime. When I go home, it will be to s. FL and it will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Don't know what are temps were but minus 0 plus wind chills. Furnace out Tue am.called furnace guy got there 9pm ugh. Not enough gas pressure. Called gas co. lines froze up all around my area. Funny prepared for power outage, not for gas outage-never before. how ever I had enough scrap wood and tree limbs to keep house -from fireplace -warm 58-60. for 24 hrs. Till gas co defrosted meter and came to check furnace-6:30 am Wed. OK now. Need to stock up some hard wood. I seemed to be awake for 24 hrs keeping fireplace supplied evry hour. I'll be completely ready next time. The gas co. guys told us that the co. will credit any charges from furnace guy outside of parts. Going to give that a try-bill was 450 plus.Charged us overtime even though we called at 8am and we our regular service customers.New ignitor was 169.00 of the 450.I was a 'zombie' come wed am.

First time I can recall every hearing of frozen Natural Gas lines. Wondering - How did they thaw the meter? Electric heat blanket or ?

Our furnace decided that one of the 6 safety switches was time to crap out just before Thanksgiving. Result was constant short heat cycling which wore out the manifold. Replaced and runs like a champ - thankfully. Even in the defective mode, it was still warming the house. But, just like when any equipment isn't operating correctly, I detected there was an issue. We have Carbon Monoxide/Gas detector which I recommend to all reading this for your safety.

Weather here has switched from sub freezing to mid 50s and rain today. Low tonight will be in the mid 50s with end of week in the 60s. Was glad for the short 2 day freeze to kill off some unwanted vegetation in and around our gardens. This rain is good for us and hopefully will add to our continued 2010 draught recovery.

60s and Sunny forecast for all of next week!

Heard the guy say they use 'glycol'. My area was hit hard many homes affected. I should have checked 'exact' line pressure I would have known at 8 am. Furnace went on at 3pm till 4pm?? They pulled meter at 2:30am as I watched from inside. They said any charges call no. we will see what happens. Hey we survivied and were warm 58-60. so I feel blessed.Worked a little and ate less.

Back to wearing shorts 71 today w warm gulf air & misty rain on & off most of the day. Was nice for Mrs and me back to walking & exercising outside in the park today...even with a mist.

Next week forecast is sunny and more '70s weather, which is THE winter we like & enjoy. The cold, not so much.

This just in from the "Rubbing It In" Department:

With sunshine & 70 degrees F today, broke out the '78 TA, garage cleanup etc.

Gonna go to museum district park and afterward fire up the Gas Grill and enjoy our currently great weather.

Lows back into the 30s next week.

Amen Brother! Sitting on patio grilling and enjoying batch of Frozen Margaritas Mrs made from 1st crack open of Holiday Tequila gift.

Life IS good!

We did see on the muted TV in the kitchen some of the bad weather along the east coast, Cali, etc. where many of our family and friends are.

Hang tuff and be safe - spring is just around the corner!

Line of storms came through today, Tornado Warnings, heard a couple of funnels spotted and high wind damage.
Radio news said 85 mph wind line at RDU airport and I540 was blocked from trees down across three/ four lanes

I was out in the sticks pulling my UTV home for the winter and it hit like a squall line...temp dropped 12 degrees.

2" of rain in 24 hours where I was, and small creek on our farm looked like rapids, never seen it like that before in all my 55 years.

North Raleigh had a lot of damage, power out for five + hours in my area with lines down, trees on cars and houses in my neighborhood, one house caught fire and was fully involved.

Shingles and branches everywhere in streets.

Haven't seen news yet but no power on US1 coming home and cops directing traffic.

Sure am glad I have these weather warning aps/Radar on IPhone.
