That's some funny ***** right there.

I input the data in the computer on Stan's site and it said= get a real car and EHTTFMF!

Imagine that.

Interesting when I ask Lil Jack a technical about cylinder head port velocity. I subject which he talked about first, how the clowns come out of the woodwork with their smart a** answers.

Really? That's interesting? Most would expect the guys with real cars,as you say clowns...to check that comment. Cheers.

Mike,
I would expect someone (Lil Jack) with a real race car that is talking about port velocity to be able to answer the question. I would have to guess the reason that there is no answer is he must be just in the PRO CHECKBOOK group and the real engine builder / head port are not taking his calls.

What is your reason?

Stan

At less this gives me something to do until the NFL comes on.

Stan, How many Real racer's can tell you what the port velocity is on there heads. I've been racing 40 years, and can't answer that. Knowing port velocity, does that make you go faster ? I am sure John Force know's what his port velocity is too. And WHAT do you race again ? Give me a break Jeez

Rusty,
The difference is you are not on here posting about which heads have low velocity and which heads have good velocity like Lil Jack did. Someone who makes those statements should be able to talk about what velocity (fps) is good or bad.

Just found out "Pennsylvania Style Lager" is made in Latrobe PA ( good water source ). I don't care what the fps calcs said ,the last page here has been funny as my skinny dog's crap in the bedroom this morning.

funnier.

350 fps. That is the answer. Any faster is bad, any slower is bad. 350. math. it's all math. MTTF

Anything over 350 fps is usually very bad.
300 fps is a good number.

The problem with talking about a velocity / fps number is that the number only means something when you also talk about where in the port it was measured. As different areas of the same port will have different velocities. Not only that but at the same point into the port normal 9 point measurements can show 9 different values.

well, okay, for a really light car.

Port fps measurements: yea the mapping matters, an average (and spread can be discussed), yet when an low spread occurs across the (9) measure positions, a fella can put the tools down & declare success, & declare an average (REPRESENTATIVE) value.

I think an argument on 300 thru 365 fps NA is worthwhile. For all readers; former Racers, current Race leaders, and wannabesomeday competitors, what have you. HIS

Thanks, but that is a long way to go for lunch. Actually it would be nice to meet you and others from this forum. While the Nitrous cars are OK I am an N/A person. I have seen the Pickett's car run and boy does it sound sweet going down the track. I do not know if I can make it but I would really like to see Tom S's heads up race and of course meet Tom in person since I have exchanged email with him for well over a decade.

HIS,
Yes where someone measures and what it shows is very important. You would like all 9 points as close as possible.

Since fps / velocity is relative based on depression we need to say we are using 28" of water. Your 350 fps sounds about right as max in the MCSA and Johns 300 fps sound more like using an average CSA (like gotten from port cc's and port centerline calculation).

Stan

PS - Another common method used is CFM per sq. in. at different place in the port. Note this and the velocity also apply to the curtain area.
