Default Anyone into Buicks?

Picked this up earlier today. 1970 Skylark Custom. 350 4v, auto, factory a/c. Only rust is in the dog legs and passenger inner fender. Missing front bumper. Supposedly ran until a timing chain was put in, so hopefully only off a tooth. Brakes even still work lol. Not sure if I'll keep it or not yet, but I got a good deal and clear title so couldn't pass it up. Don't know much about Buicks, but I do like it a lot.

That was a real good year for the Skylarks. They can look mean at the drag strip if done right.

I have a 68 GS400, 52000 miles, second owner, I love them and the 70 is one of the nicest body styles , You can do a lot with them, I think it was in 70 that some had the exhaust rectangles coming through the rear bumper under the lights, good luck with it, have fun.

Hopefully this weekend I'll get it off the trailer and mess around with it. It's a bench seat car, but the interior isn't too terribly bad. Just dirty more than anything and the front seat is torn up. Underside is nice and clean, solid quarters. Had a lot of trim in the trunk and what may be the original floor mats seeing as they are the exact same color as the dark green interior. I'm so used to coming across rusted out stuff around here this one was a surprise. I guess for now I'll get it running, go through the brakes, see if the a/c still functions, etc and go from there.

About 6 Skylarks (68-70) next to where I work. Best 1 is a Conv. NO activity seen with these 6 cars for about a year.

I didn't like the tail sections of the 68-69. To me they looked like grandma's car. The 70 was a good year for the Skylark IMHO.

I agree, the '70 is the best looking of all the third gen Skylarks. Looks to be in good shape.

Love the 70 GS's! If this were 1970, and I was in the market, the 1970 GS Stage 1 is about the only midsized musclecar I would consider over a GTO or Judge.

I had a 69 with a 455. th400. 1 1/4" front sway bar, 5/8 rear sway bar, disc brakes. Real fun car, ran low 14s with a one legger and 2.56 gears. Slow out of the hole but great from 50 to 120.

I used to not like them very much either, but I kinda like them now.
Third back-up light is unique.

Speaking of Buicks, these 4 beauties went through Mecum last week, all from one collection:

1970 GS Stage 1 ragtop

1970 GS Stage 1 4-speed in Diplomat Blue

1970 GS Stage 1 4-speed in Aqua Mist

1970 GS Stage 1 - built for the F.A.S.T. series

I love Buicks and dabble in them almost as much as Pontiacs. I have a '73 Riviera and a bunch of '73 Colonnades. The 350 Buick is a very light and torquey engine: it will surprise you. Skylarks are probably more rare than the GS clones so it would be nice to see that one brought back...if just a daily driver.

This one came home just over a month ago. I can't wait to bring it back to DD status! As one would imagine, the 455-equipped cars are beasts.

That car is way cool. Those colonnade Gran Sports are pretty doggone rare as well. Reverse landau & poverty caps make it a real oddball.
I'd be looking for the build sheet to see how original it is.

Are you on the BuickV-8 forums? I'm a member but rarely ever visit. I'm a huge Buick fan though.

What color is that George D? Kinda hard to tell if it's maroon or some type of brown.
