WE HAVE A 1969 12 BOLT 355 POSI REAR FOR SALE

THE TUBES HAVE NO SUFFIX CODE ??????

BUT THE CASE IS DATE CODED I 1968

HAS EATON 3 SERIES CARRIER WITH A 355 SCREW

Chad would this rear be the EXACT same width as a 69 10 bolt, or wider,

A 12 BOLT HAS THE SAME LENGTH DRUM TO DRUM AS A 10 BOLT ITS JUST A 12 BOLT IS BUILT TO TAKE A POUNDING AND A 8.2 10 BOLT WAS JUST BUILT TO GET THE CAR DOWN THE ROAD

A 12 BOLT IS A VERY SOUGHT AFTER AXLE A 8.2 10 BOLT IS A AXLE MOST FOLKS CANT WAIT TO GET OUT FROM UNDER THERE CAR

A 12 BOLT ADDS VALUE TO A MUSCLE CAR A 10 BOLT DOES NOTHING FOR VALUE BUT AT LEAST STOPS THE CAR FROM LOSING VALUE FOR NOT HAVING A REAR UNDER THE CAR AT ALL

Yeah, I know all about the difference as far as strength, and components, I just thought that one was slightly (like an inch) wider than the other.

NOPE EXACT SAME LENGTH 67-69 F BODY 12 BOLT

68-72 A BODY AND 1970 F BODY SAME LENGTH 12 BOLT ARE THE SAME LENGTH

ANOTHER GOOD CHOICE IS THE 8.5 AXLE ITS PRETTY DAMN STRONG AS A 12 BUT HALF THE COST BUT DOES NOT COMMAND THE RE SALE VALUE A 12 BRINGS DUE TO THE FOLKS THAT DONT KNOW ANY BETTER

'67-69 Camaro & '68-71 Nova 12 bolt is same width as 65, 66, & 67 Elco-Malibu-Chevelle 12 bolt = 54.5" between backing plates. Both used same c-clip 12 bolt axles. Have quite a few to build.

'68-72 Elco-Malibu-Chevelle 12 bolt is same width as '70-71 F-body 12 bolt.
Both used the wider standard duty 12 bolt axles. 55.5" between backing plates. Have even more.

'67, 68, & 69 Firebird 8.2 10 bolts carried the wide track theme forward, & will measure 55.5" between backing plates. The std axle used in a '67-mid summer of '69 built 69 Bird is same sealed bearing axle used in '67-69 Pontiac LeMans & GTO. HD forged versions interchange the same years. Have several early Bird housings, have torn down & built many many more. Seldom build gray iron Pontiac 8.2's, just in the racks to show folks the differences.
