Dang!! You got a potential high 11 sec car there, with traction... you shave that 60ft down to atleast 1.8s and you should be around 12.20s, i'd say... impressive! WHats some of the particulars of your build? WHat pistons and rods you runnin?

Wish I had a couple of action shots from the line but I was busy trying to race as well. I was REALLY impressed with the number this car was able to run.

I have the same vehicle and used to run a 455 with about the same specs, 6X-4 heads cleaned up a bit (232cfm) and a Crower RAIV cam. With zero traction it ran 12.70-12.90's at 108-109MPH, pretty much where you are at.

I got it to hook up and immediately went mid 12's at the same MPH. Best ever 12.34 @ 109mph.

I sorted out some fuel delivery issues a few years later and the car instantly went 12.0's at 112mph. That was is pretty hot weather, but at a sea level track. It was headed for the 11's with the 6X-4 heads, but I was given opportunity to install KRE heads (new at that time). With no other changes we went 11.80's right off the trailer, in extemely hot/humid weather......Cliff

Cliff, when i had the friend of mine build the motor i was copying your build except i'm running a Torker 1 and Long branch manifolds. I'm hoping with a posi and sticky tires it should have a 12.40 in it.

Jay, I wish you could have made it down again this year. There was a guy there with a '69 Camaro that we talked to that has witnessed your car on the chassis-dyno. He said the '74 TA's were his favorite cars as he was born in 1974. It was good to see our friend Steve with his new to him '72. Also Will (tajunkman), made it down with his wife and her 2002 TA.

Awesome for a budget built combo. Reminds me of what mop my 01' SS was... in good air I ran similar ET's - but at 10+ more MPH.

Nice all the way around! time, price, etc. Posi will really help.
Slightly off topic question: I thought I heard that it's not good to goose/blip the car again after you've done the burnout. That you do the burnout, heat up the tires, then line up and go. I think the reason was that if you hit it like in your video, that you could actually wipe off some of the sticky part of the warmed up tire. Anyone care to advise/chime in? I'd love to learn.

Oh, and I'M VERY jealous of your times and success. atta boy!

I tried doing a burnout and rolling up to the line and doing a dry hop. And for some reason with these cheap wal-mart tires it hooks better doing a dry hop with both this 455 and the 350 i took out of the car.
