Jimmo, with that tensioner on the AC side, will you still need to use the alternator to adjust belt tension?
Thanks,
Russ

No, once you lock the alternator and power steering in place you can forget about them, its all in the auto tensioner. Also, removing and reinstalling the belt is done with only the tensioner.

The serpentine system (non-AC) passed the Norwalk test...six passes shifting at 5200 with zero problems! Had several people ask about it, I directed them to this topic.

Pretty cool, I was wondering how ya made out this weekend.

Now Im staring at the photo you posted and seeing your alternator bracket is different than mine. Ive been back and forth with drawings to the waterjet guy for pricing on these but now Im wondering if I should shorten the upper left mounting ear on the idler bracket.

Good point...I had that alternator bracket laying around for eons..I don't recall what it came from originally. Obviously there are various types over the years that may cause problems. I'll post the part number of mine in here later today.

Come on now Patrick I did cut a .024 second reaction time...just did it on the countdown side and red-lighted!!
Those 20" wheels kinda grow on you, don't they? If I could find another pair for the front now, I'd be the donk king!

Thank You. I think I got it. I downloaded some pics of your bracket and printed them to scale. Then I printed my bracket and lined them up over a light table.
The bracket I made would have worked for your set up but I just dont think it would have looked right. I shortened the left ear so it doesnt extend beyond the point where your bracket starts to bend. Now it should work for both.

Great job Jimmo. I'll be doing this to my project as well

Question for the forums, what's the benefit of a sepentine system over the stock set-up?

Thanks Krewzer.
As for your question, Im always tinkiering so I love the fact that I can pop one belt off in seconds as opposed to several minutes for the three v-belts. Also tensioning is easy and even easier with the auto tension. Lastly, its probably minimal but horsepower and fuel economy gains. I think I can actually notice a lil mpg increase, I wish I had monitored it better before I made the swap. Only watched the last two tanks before the serp install.

Progress on my serpentine system.
Ordered Jimmo's list of spacers from Aluminum Spacers.
All I can say is wow. each spacer individually packaged in a heavy zip lock bag and clearly labeled.
Also got the Camaro/Firebird belt tensioner.

Great work Jimmo, I am waiting for the AC bracket system.
The earlier AC system with an A6 compressor, may require conversion to a Sanden or R4 as I Too have not been able to find an A 6 with the Serpentine pulley.
The idler shown in the E-bay add. Is that the Subaru idler? If so what is the Pn.

Dont quote me but I think Ill need to get 50 bucks for that spacer. If I sell more than I anticipate a might be able to go a lil cheeper. They came out nice, I am definitely swapping out my home-made one for one of these with the arc.
I have been subscribed for awhile. Following the action so to speak. I would agree that I would do both, DIY and by the complete kit.

I looked in the thread was there any increase in cooling capacity?

Have you brought this to a cruise/show?

The Idler is Dayco pn 89007. If a parts counter guy wants a year make and model it from a 2002 chevy malibu with a 3.1 ltr. Its also compatible with a ton of other vehicles according to dayco's site.
I've learned that most idlers use the same 17mm inner bearing, they just vary in diameter and width.
I thought you were working on spacing your sanden?
