Neat story, and beautiful car! Thanks for posting.

Makes me not feel so bad about how long mine may sit before I get around to giving them a proper resto, too...

Dave, Want to trade your your ram air inlet for my fold-down rear seat?

I don't know if it was an option or a later add-on, but I also have the power steering cooler line.

See more pics in my album below ...

My green coupe is equipped with the fold-down rear seat and the pwr. strg. cooler.
The pwr. strg. cooler application was determined by the axle ratio originally installed.
Any Bird with a 3.23:1 or higher (numericaly) ratio had the cooler.
Super nice pictures in your album, The white/red really stands out!

I didn't really think you would go for the inlet/seat trade

Thanks for looking at my pics. Most of them were actually taken by the previous owner, I suck as a photographer. I really feel fortunate to have found and been able to purchase my car, and I enjoy it immensely, but I am jealous of your cars - they are awesome! The restoration and attention to detail are beyond anything I've seen before. You should post a website or publish a book on the restorations and end results, the few photos I've seen are not enough!

Getting back to the steering cooler, what rear end is in your convertible? I heard that if the car has A/C, it had to be 3.23 or lower due to some pressure issue with the compressor, is that accurate? Mine does have the 3.23.

You are correct! 3.23:1 is the only A/C ratio for manual trans 400 and 400HO models.
The A/C auto trans 400 and 400HO models had the 2.78:1 as standard with the 3.23 as
an option. Non-A/C cars had a long list of optional ratios:3.08,3.23,3.36,3.55,3.90.
My car has the optional 3.23. Still need to install the pipe I had InLine-Tube make.
Good Eye!
The higher operating rpm with the optional ratios and higher temps caused by the A/C compressor/condenser can be too much for the cooling system.

No wonder my 'bird was always such a dog! I thought she had a 3.08 rear end.....interesting.

Tanksta, what's that color on your Firebird?

That's a good look. What are the wheels?
But I see you spent all your money on the wheels and didn't have anything left to buy some new jeans! LOL!!

Thanks guys.. yeah they r expensive.. I like the jean comment lol.. They r v-rods made by intro wheels. Fronts- 18x7 4.75 b/s rears r 18x8 5.75 b/s. I lowered the fronts 3 inches with hotchkis springs and the rear 4 inchs.. 3 inch dse lowering leafs with a one inch block. came out perfect.. The roads r not the best here in places and I have no problems on the road as long as Iam carefull.

I wanted the intro wheels they put on Adrienne Janics 68, I think they were Vista

edit: yep they were the vista

its funny because all over they said they were the v-rods, but I looked closer and they were the vista

That is correct. It was tough deciding between v-rods, matix, or vistas. I really like the two tone look of the matrix and vistas... intro has some really nice wheels worth the money. heres one more pic

I usually am not a fan of anything but dark red on these cars, but this is very simple yet very nice looking.
