H.O. Manifolds haven't shown up yet. Trust me, I want it in there now. Can't measure for the custom driveshaft until it's in.

Just messin' with you Ron. Everything is looking REAL nice. I'd be scared to death of scratching something putting the motor in. Better you than me.

The motor is in. We didn't scratch anything up. Oddly, the transmission has no clearance to the tunnel just forward of the shifter, so I need to figure out what happened. I'd like to drop the rear of the transmission about 1/2". We mocked all of this up when we fabbed the tunnel, but, now it's different. Need to research trans mounts to see if there is a shorter one, or take the insulators off the crossmember ends and direct bolt it. T.B.D.

Ron, your car looks absolutely fantastic. I have a 64 Lemans convert that I have begun and you have given me something to shoot for, you have set the bar very high, but I can dream.
Congrats on the progress, and please keep the pics coming. Nicely done

Thanks for the compliments and razzing people. Not much progress to report. March just seemed to fly by. Between a mini spring break with the kids, daily driver issues, and working lots of O.T., I just haven't been able to put in much time. Hope to change that soon, though it looks like work won't relent for another month. I did get all the glass from Auto City Classics for under $1000, shipped to my house. Nice looking glass. I got them mounted up in the frames, but not installed in the car yet. I'm not happy with the operation of the vent windows, too hard to close, so I need to redo those. I also finished up plumbing the brake lines to the master cylinder. This should have been a slam dunk, but was not. I ordered all '67 HO brake lines, master, proportioning valve from Right Stuff Detailing. The proportioning valve doesn't fit properly on the bracket, needed a minor modification. Then the brake line didn't fit. Fortunately they're local, I bent one up from a coat hanger, took it to their shop, and I watched as their line maker manually made one for me, no questions asked. I was in and out in 10 minutes. Awesome service. I didn't get a pic of the new line, but it fit like a glove, just like the wire I mocked up.

Again, thanks for the interest, it helps keep me motivated to get at it.

Wink Hey...

I picked up a scooter so maybe I can afford to come up and help...or at least hand you tools. It'll take me @ a month to get her "redone" and make her mine. You know how it goes. It's just what I wanted...a '74 Shovelhead that someone already poured a bunch of money into and walked away. S&S 93" stroker with S&S heads and Super E carb and a five speed tranny. Not a bad bike as she sits...but definately needs some refinement! Anyway...since I cannot afford to feed those three Rochesters any more...at least I can still be mobile. Maybe I'll see you at the meeting? Take care. "Old Ron"

Made some progress today. I got the accessories mounted on the front of the engine. Original PS pump, rebuilt. Alternator, not correct numbers, A/C compressor. Boy it's awfully tight where the fuel filter and vapor return and P/S pump bracket all come together next to the timing cover. Not sure if I got that quite right, but I think it's close. For you '64 experts, you'll note that is not a '64 GTO A/C compressor bracket. Those brackets are off a '64 full size, and the same part numbers as a '65 GTO. I'll leave it like this for now, and keep looking for the correct brackets to swap out with some day. Also, there's a brace missing between the P.S. pump and Alternator. I've got an ad in the Wanted section looking for that.

Just a few more things to tidy up in the engine compartment, clutch linkage, STV and expansion valve, until I can put the front sheet metal on. That would be nice.

Some more updates of my painfully slow progress:

Finished up the A/C STV, expansion valve, etc. I'll put in the hoses pipes after the front clip is on. Still need to work on the clutch linkage before I put on the fenders.

Painted the A/C controls with the paint from Tiemann's paint shop, excellent match. This is a good paint for '64 dashes and consoles. Do a search for my posting about where/how to buy it. Don't ask for the formula, I don't have it, but the paint shop does.

Got the A/C controls and gauges mounted in the dash. Still need to modify the dash harness for the gauges before I can put the dash in.

Yes, sorry purists, those are '65 gauges. I didn't want to have to do the underdash stuff to see temp and oil pressure. I'm building the car as a stock appearing modified, so, this fits the bill.

Tim, I'd love to do yours next, but I don't think you can afford me. Hell, I can't afford me.

Thanks.

When you get to the point of firing it up, make sure you check to see if the vacuum advance can on the distributor is good. Don't ask me why I said that. LOL

Other than that... it's looking great Ron.

Thanks for the tip, the vacuum can is new and the engine was already fired on a test stand using it. That said, I'm certain there are several other things I will forget or overlook at first. Probably should start a punch list for all those things I make a mental note of doing later. Like torquing all the control arm bolts, add trans fluid, etc.

Did that. Can't find the list!
