those look like 15 inch wheels/tires also which will decrease fenderwell gap.

Looks great. I don't think its much different from mine in Height, just that my tire sticks out too far. Mine rubs just at 1 o'clock on the inner edge of the well. What wheels/tires are on your's? Can you post a dead-on shot of the tire/wheel well?

By the way. Mine measures 7.5 inch height at the rocker panel, which is just about 1 inch lower than stock. Is that the best way to compare drop?

I'm running wheel vintique 15x8" ralley's with I think a 4.5 BS. The tires are Indy firehawks 234/60/15. I get some rubbing on just the driver side as you can see here.

This is the only strait on shot I have handy and its a poor one since the care was jacked up and then sat back down plus the spring were brand new and had not been driven yet. So it will obviously sit lower then this.

Slightly better shot then the very first one.

That surprises me because I'm on 15x7-4.0 BS. 15x8 with 4.5 BS should stick out more than mine (all else equal). Are you disc brakes?

Bump stops and bushings checked out ok. Rubs less and only on the passenger side after taking out top 2 fender bolts. Right near highest part of the well lip. I can see that the tire sticks out a little bit more on the pass. side. Body must be cockeyed.

My tires are just .2" radius shorter, I have 4 degrees positive caster, and I have more than an inch clearance. Either your subframe is misaligned, or it's been tweaked. I hope the former, not the latter.

They might be 4" I don't recall.

Default hotchkis

I just installed 3 inch lowering hotchkis sbc springs. My front tires are 215/70-15, from the ground to the top of my fender measures 25 1/4 inches I plan on putting 18s on. Backspacing will be 4.75 in front. Right now the backspacing is 4", which is not good.I wont be able to drive till spring, so I dont know if Ill have any issues. If you go to protouring website you might find more info on lowering your car. This is the best pic I can get for now. Good luck

for discs, the 4 3/4 (actually, 4 7/8 would be perfect, but not all cars are the same) are great. drums are better with 4 1/2 in my experience.

Default Tire rubbing

I decided my only option for making the drop springs work will be increasing the back spacing on the Rally II's. I have 4 inch BS and need to increase to between 4.5-5 inch to bring the tires inside the well. Can anyone say whether 15x7 with 4.75 inch BS will fit in the 68 wheel well (225/60 tires and disc brakes)?

my guess is that your frame is tweaked or misaligned
look under the #2 mount and youll see a 5/8" alignment hole.
Use a long 5/8 bolt or rod(longer the better) and insert in the alignment holes.
Im betting you ll need to move the frame forward
on that side. You will then need to do a 4 wheel alignment.
I have 235-60x15 on front of one of my 68s and have plenty of gap.

they'll fit, but you may have some rubbing on the frame from the inside tire sidewall (not a big deal; i ran like that for years. only left a shiny spot on the frame and no damage to the tire).

Did yours rub on hard turns or what? I am planning to try to measure the clearance in the well according to this: http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...all/index.html

On a 7" rim, the 4.5" bs would probably be better to center the wheel, but it may not rub with 4.75" just because the tire is only 225 tire.

it did rub, but only at the stops. acted like a brake. i was never at any fast speed with the steering at the stops.
