2005 GTO value
I am thinking about selling my 05 GTO. It has a 6 spd manual, 18 factory rims, midnight blue metalic paint. It has just under 22k on the odometer. Un modified and un molested, and has 5 yrs of the extended waranty and lojack on it. It has always been garaged (so cal) hardly ever seen rain, never smoked it etc. Has a few scratches (mainly from getting bumped when I was working on my 74 bird right next to it in the garage). What is the current market value? I was quoted 13900 from an online car-buyer. I have seen them for as much as 20k plus on various craigs lists. I would like to move it pretty quick if I decide to. I was figuing that I could sell it prety fast for 17k, what are your thoughts? Thanks for any info.

Just for some sort of reference, I recently sold my mint, totally stock, unmolested '06 GTO with 10K miles for $19,500. I could have easily gotten a little more if I wasn't so quick to unload it.

That is a very nice combo you have and yes, it'll move pretty fast at 17k. Why would you let that beauty go?

Could use the money and it is tough to be a 4 car family if we only drive 2 of them. The way I se it I either keep my truck or the GTO (my wifes equinox is safe, it carries the baby). Hope it does move quick

Blue Book (KBB) is stating that an 05 GTO is around $16,250... 17-18k would be a fair asking price IMO...

I've been halfway looking for a 2500HD or 3500 truck for the last year or so. I have a couple of buddies who are in the used car business, and they're telling me that most private party sales are being made for prices about halfway between KBB private party and KBB trade-in values.
I looked up KBB Private party in my area (good condition) on an 05 GTO, and it was $16,075. KBB Trade-in was $13,850.
In my opinion, any 22K original mile car should be in good condition, so I think it would be hard to rate it an excellent. I would say that you should be able to get at least $15K minimum for your car based on the information I've gotten from my buddies.
I drive a lot of miles, and my daily driver is an 02 Saturn Vue. I bought an extremely clean 06 Vue with 40K miles for $7200 back in February, which was a little less than KBB Trade-in. I know there are a lot of flaky things going on with values due to GMs decision to give dealers a big cash incentive to move all new Pontiacs and Saturns to the used car lot, but the KBB values had already dropped by the time I bought the Saturn.
If it were mine, I would start out in the $17-18K range and take no less than $15K.

He will have to drop it down to around 13-15K to sell a 2005 right now.* Few more months they are a year older.
These cars do not sell well and there is a TON of them sitting on lots or listed for sale. They have to be priced "RIGHT" to move (unless its got mods or some special features)
Look at ebay and closed sales......around 70 or more listed for sale with maybe six selling.
2006s are around $16,000 for the deals
These are a really good buy right now, and a lot of fun.

I paid $9800 for my '05 back in Feburary. Its an automatic with 91k. It has a clean carfax and I do not see any evidence of any accident damage.

My daily driver is a 2002 Saturn Vue 4-cyl and 5-spd. Late last year, I was looking for a replacement daily driver and was considering an 05-06 GTO. My main requirements were 1) Any color other than silver 2) 6-spd and 3) less than 30K miles.
I looked at three or four cars that met that criteria, and made an offer on three of them. I offered about halfway between KBB Trade-In and Private Party value, with no bites. I would really like to have an orange one, but none were orange.
I ended up buying an 06 Saturn Vue just like what I have now, but with 40K miles. The Saturns got very cheap after GM gave the dealers a huge incentive to move Pontiacs and Saturns to the used car lot. That killed trade-in values, and I bought my 06 Saturn for $7200 from an individual. A GTO would have been nice, but my Saturn Vue has been the most reliable car I've ever owned.
At least when I was looking, sellers were ignoring KBB and holding out for better prices.

Mike, I was looking at them the other day to see how many had high dollar mods and for sale. Ebay/CraigsList is FULL of the GTOs.
They have to be priced right to sell.
I saw one in latest edition of Pontiac Enth that runs a 10.98 and nice streetable car on A/C.
For a few thou $, they will fly.
I wouldnt mind buying another for mods if they keep dropping in price.

This car is only a few miles from my house. It's a red 05 6-spd with 38K miles. He's asking $17,950.

The only cars I'm seeing less than $15K for 05/06 have high mileage. If I thought I could get a car like the one above for $14K, I'd probably buy one.
The problem I see is that so many have been modified and beat on.

Yeah...all the ones I see selling cheap are high mileage cars. I have a 2005 auto, impulse blue with 5,400 miles and a few bolt ons putting down 376 rwhp. I would not even think about selling it for less then $20,000.

A 2005 with 60,000 miles is considered low miles. Afterall, we are talking about a six year old car.
These LS2s are built tough, they will last a while.
I'd thrown some lower offers out and see how bad they want to sell.
IMO.....asking high teens and up for an 05 probably is a waste of time, unless special.
They dont appear to be holding value well at all, which could be in part due to small niche buying group.

Jeff, I believe you are probably right about the small niche buying group! This is why I don't care if I sell mind are not. I would like to think mind is in a little better shape with only 5,400 miles. No marks on this car at all..inside or out. Only been in the rain one time. These cars are a blast to drive!!! Hope you can make a deal on one.

I already have one, a 05... owned it since new.
Mike has looked around at these.
BTY, Mike: I saw CROSSROADS FURD has a Cyclone Gray 06 with around 64,xxx for $16,900
There is another 06 below $18,000 I saw somewhere local too.

I guess I'm not meant to have one of the newer GTOs. When I had the bug, I couldn't make a deal. For a variety of reasons, I've kinda lost interest in buying one now.
After seeing the new Camaros and the Challenger, I've kinda lost interest in the last of the Goats. Given the choice between a CTS-V and an 05/06 GTO, I think I would take the V.

Wow...sounds like a deal!
You wouldnt mind the LS1 vrs LS2 and 50 more HP/hood with scoops in the 04 vrs 05/06 model years?
That price is set to sell and hard to pass up, though.
