Only $85,000 for the basic model or $135,000 for the 454 model. Wow what a deal. I can'r imagine they will sell many....

Here are some pics of the supposedly finished product. I'd feel ripped off if I ponied up $85k for that monstrosity.

For what the base model costs you could get a LS-6 Chevelle and a new GTO.

I just got back from doing the hot rod power tour(springfield to davenport legs of the tour) and this car was at all the stops. In pictures it doesn't look that great, but don't completely judge it untill you've seen it in person. It really is a neat car, but not 135k neat. I think if chevy would consider building something along these lines it would really take off. Alot more than the new next-to-useless SSR. If they could put a reasonable price tag on it, the retro market is there.

Since you've seen it in person, have they done anything to the headlight area? It looks unfinished to me. Granted, fixing that area won't solve all of it's problems but it would make it a little more presentable.

yea, I talked to them about that. They said they are still working on it. They had some little things to work out yet. That being one of them. The interior wasn't that much different from the GTO. I would have expected more custom work in that area. Overall though, it was nice. They had a 70 red/w black stripes SS chevelle parked next to it and you were able to really compare the two and see what was similar and how much work it took to make a GTO into that car.

Here's some more pics of the beast from a Power Tour stop.
Power Tour 2004
The craftsmanship looks good, but they need to work on the styling. I think they were trying too hard to make it look like a '70. If I were designing it, I probably would have been more subtle with the design cues.

That is why retro sucks. What is the point? If I want that look I would buy the real thing.

I agree...thats why cars like the new Mustang don't have any appeal to me.

Don't forget the T-Bird and GT. The T-Bird is dead, the GT? Who knows but can't imagine how that style will evolve over the years like say Ferrari or Lambo.

The GT doesn't need to evolve over time. It is a limited quanity 150K car. It's those mass produced retro cars that all die over time because they have nowhere to go styling wise.
Oh sure, they sell hot for awhile until the novelty wears off.
