It's the same with brake shoes and water pumps....

It's the same with brake shoes and water pumps. 20 years ago it was an exchange basis. Now everything is new Chinese no exchange.

Yes.. It is a 389. Last 4 of block casting is 6769. Thinking block came out of a Catalina or other B body.. I noticed on ZeGermanHams picture the angled adaptor. I'm sure that's my issue.

I think I now see my issue. It looks like your filter bracket is canted slightly. Mine is straight which puts the filter close to the lower rear A arm bracket.

It does have an aftermarket oil pan. Drain plug is on driver side and seems the drain plug is 21mm. 13/16 won't quite get it so assuming Chinese inferior crap.
