I've seen it too. It doesn't happen very often, but any imperfection in the "skin" and the float will quickly deteriorate and absorb fuel.

I don't know if they're coated on the inside, but if you email Paul at RARE, I bet he could tell you. He's done ceramic coating for years, not only on the manifolds he sells, but headers as well.

Don't assume that fully assembled eheads are ready to run. On mine, the stock valve job from Edelbrock on the exhaust side was .005" OOR which is a lot. The ports were pretty rough too.
