Nope, they are the same size as the 'regular' GTO's. The big bars came on the '72 GTO's with the WW5 option.

Any 70 -75 formula hood can be used as a starting point. The factory RamAir hoods have the front opening cut open, a screen installed in each one to keep debris out and the rubber accordion boots...

My headers have standard grade 8, heads 9/16 on some. And stainless 5/16 6 point on others. You need 6 point on some so you can get a opened end wrench on some. And the 9/16 head is much less likely...
