If you put lacquer thinner on lacquer the paint will come off. If you leave it on a while gasoline will soften it also.

One of the "County" high school auto shops in my area had a new 77 or 78 SE TA donated that was damaged in transport going under a low bridge on a transport truck.
They sold it about 20 years later....

I went to Aiken HS in Cincinnati and took auto mechanics in the vocational program. The auto shop had a 72 Camaro and so did the body shop. They were donated from GM.

Stock system was so horrible from 75-81 .

No problem in NC , anything after 30 years old doesn't even get a yearly state inspection.
