That`s a "Trans Am" block. Paul prolly tapped those bosses to be able to toss it in any chassis. I don`t think the 557 block even has all the bosses like the XX block.

I see them in the latest AMES catalog, N244A.

Factory stock crank will put up with a lot. Pontiac`s "small" main is still 3 inches. Bigger than most other big blocks.

I spin my stock 455 crank to 6500. It`s got bigger mains but a 4.21 stroke...

No way I would put a set of 72CC heads on a set of old cast pistons. You would be better off using 6x-4 or -8 shaved down to about 94CC. I would spend the money on new pistons no matter what heads...

I would verify it is an actual rear main seal leak 1`st. Oil pans are famous for leaking back there. Valley pan, dist gasket, etc.
