Which motor mounts?
I'm changing the original 350 in my 72 Luxury LeMans over to a stock rebuilt 400 from a 78 Trans Am. Are the standard rubber mounts from Ames sufficient or should I use something else?
Ames Part #: N242A

So the late blocks have different bolt holes for mounts in the side of the block, and you need the adapter to install in a 74 & earlier chassis.
I see them in the latest AMES catalog, N244A. Then you use the appropriate engine mount for the chassis it's going into. 400 and less displacement V8 are different than 455s, so just get the ones for the 326-400 blocks. So yes, the N242A is the correct one to use. .

Found this which might help explain things, and Ames was a source for the article:

It looks like you might need to grind a boss on the block some.

All of these holes are tapped. Am I good to go with standard mounts?
I bought the engine from Paul K back in 2019. He never claimed it was original to the Trans Am. I guess I caused the confusion here.

If all 5 holes are present and tapped just use the correct mounts for the YEAR and BODY style of the car it will be installed in.

Yeah, 5 hole blocks are 70-76 years, and will fit anything.

Wondering if "Made in India" is still the mount with good, strong rubber-adhesion to the metal...?

That`s a "Trans Am" block. Paul prolly tapped those bosses to be able to toss it in any chassis. I don`t think the 557 block even has all the bosses like the XX block.
