Default Throttle response question

So when I start the car up for first time the throttle response when u re in neutral is lightning fast. But after the car runs and warms up, the quickness lessens in neutral and almost feels lazy. I assume that it has to do with cold motor? But sure would be nice if response was that fast all the time….

Tripower set up. Petronix ignition and msd. 6al…

This could be due to many things.

In no pertucular order I would make this checks.

Confirm that your base timing does not change from when cold to fully up at normal operation temp.

If you have vacuum advance that works above idle ( by 2000 rpm ) then confirm that still takes place up at normal temps.

A sluggish motor when fully warmed up and out of gear could point to a rich condition, so check that 1) your Choke on the center Carb is fully open and 2) that the Choke flap is held open and does not close up when you hit the throttle.

Thanks guys. Steve I’ll check those. I have had some rich conditions in the past.

And it’s true I have not changed plugs since it was running really rich and not suspect the plugs will be generally black, but the electrode is clean. Car was not missing with a fouled plug so I left them in. So I can change out plugs as well

Typo above. I suspect they are black.

Didn’t necessarily mean that the plugs are bad. Just good to look at them to get an idea if it’s running rich or lean.
