Got my '70 GTO back with some upgrades
I was able to get my 1970 back over the weekend. What a difference.
Had the following items done: New spider gears, clutches and 3.73 rear put into the diff. Also, had the M-20 replaced with a T-56. 5th .83OD and 6th .63 OD. Last had the FITECH EFI removed ( Nothing but problems ) and replaced with the Holley Sniper. What a great EFI system. Almost forgot, the Magna flow exhaust was changed. Too quiet. Put a Flowmaster American Thunder system on it with an H-pipe and Texas T/A mufflers. 2.5 inch mandrel bent. Kept the Magna flow tail pipes. Now it sounds really good. Couldn't be happier with the way the car drives. |

Sounds awesome!
What size tires are you running in the back? I will be using 27" (255/65-15), and chose a 3.42 rear gear based on desired cruise RPM and cam. Have a T56 with same ratios as yours.

Pics please, so that I can live vicariously through your gold 70 GTO until mine's done.

Can I get some more details on the EFI set ups? I have a Fitech on mine, runs ok. I had it at a dyno shop and they said there was only so much they could do. My system runs rich on the lower RPM range, and lean on the upper. I'm probably looking at going with one of the Holley systems next. What was the problem with your Fitech?

The computer would not retain what it learned when I would use the battery cutoff switch. When this happened it had to relearn everything and that took a long time. If I didn’t make the change to the Holley Sniper the LED read out would have to be replaced for the third time. Startup was a joke. I had to prime it five times just to start it. Then I had to feather it to keep it going. It was like starting an engine with a carburetor that had no choke. I was caught up with the good reviews it initially had for a cheaper price than the FAST system. Live and learn. Last edited by napster; 12-16-2021 at 04:18 PM. |

Here is a link to a video my Mechanic sent me of the car as it sounded with open headers before the exhaust was put back on for the last time.
Notice how the car starts with the Holley Sniper EFI on the engine. Started right up. https://youtu.be/tku6RdlCeiQ |
