Powder coating brake drums
Would this adversely affect the heat dissipation from the drums compared to painting them? For those who have powder coated their drums, have you noticed any adverse results?

If you’re doing the type of driving that requires repeated hard braking where heat is a concern, you need a disc and not a drum regardless.
I would worry about painting or powder coating drums in a cruiser or street strip situation.

With regard to paint vs. powder coating, in my book there is no difference between the two in terms of trapping heat. In the end, they're both "paints". And as JLMounce alluded to, if you're using your drum brakes in such a way that they experience fade, painted or powder coated outer drums won't be the straw that broke the camel's back. That just means you're driving beyond the thermal capacity of the drum brakes in general.

Powder coating brake drums
Car will be driven like an old maid school teacher. No chance of ever overheating the brakes..

WIll you be using a high temperature resistant powder coating? I thought the regular type would burn off if subjected to high heat. Yes I know it takes 400 degrees to melt it onto parts but brake drums can get hotter than that. I had my old ones sandblasted then I sprayed them repeatedly with BBQ grille satin black. Its held up pretty well.

I used hi temp engine enamel, a very light coating. This lasted many years...

Brake Caliper/High Temp Paint Works Real Good As Well.
I did my drums several years back and it's still looking great. For me, I can't see spending the money and time to PC a maintainance part.
