Does anyone have part numbers for 1965 tripower rebuild kits that can be found at local retail auto stores.

Wow those look great. Whats the recoloring process and are the throttle plates painted (black?) or natural cast iron? Ive seen it both ways not sure whats correct for a 65 ?

The carb coloring process is called zinc dichromate. It is a dipping process where the bodies are first dipped in a strong cleaning solution, then and acid prep, then a zinc-rich liquid at 120 degree F. This is how Rochester did this since the 1940's. The bases are cleaned and coated with Zinc Phosphate from Eastwood, which has a very similar appearance to the OEM black oxide treatment. However, the black oxide did not do a good job of preventing corrosion. The throttle plates were originally left plain steel, and rusted, especially when not used on a regular basis. I have all the plates plated with black zinc, which prevents rust and looks great--even though you don't see them unless you peer into the carb airhorn. I use DAG213 on all end carb throttle plates, even the ones that have a near-perfect seal. This is key to stopping air leakage and results in a smooth idle with maximum vacuum.

Thank you. After doing Tri-Power restorations for nearly 40 years, I've learned a few tricks and found a great place for plating and dichromate. I could not ask for a more satisfying hobby.
