Default I washed my car today

For the first time in almost 30 years! While my GTO is in the paint shop I took the opportunity to pull the 50 out and wash it, inside and out. I have to replace the floor ans trunk pans but other than that the car is pretty solid.
It's a straight 8 with three speed tranny. When I get the new driver's side front pan in I can install the gas pedal and hopefully move the car under it's own power.

When I was a kid there was an elderly lady in my hometown who had a grey 1950 Pontiac fastback - she only drove it to church on Sundays, and I suppose to the grocery store once a week. Cosmetically it was almost like a new car, but I imagine the engine was full of sludge.

The motors in these cars did not have an external oil filter. There were two instances when the interior screen was to be cleaned. One was if the motor was being rebuilt and the other was if the car was in a rollover accident!

I really like those old slant back cars. To me they beg for either the lead sled treatment or a straight axle, Olds rear and injector tubes shoved through the hood.
However you finish it, that's a very cool car.

Default 50 Pontiac

Hello, nice ride ,my first car was a 50 4-door I found for $15 when I was 13, in 1960. I drove it in the country for about a year and bought a 46 business coupe for $12. The 46 had a rod knocking so a buddy and I swapped the 6cyl. for the 50 straight 8. WE had lots of good times with that old straight 8 .

Mine has the straight 8 that runs but smokes a little. That might be from the oil I put in the cylinders to lube things up before I turned the motor over for the first time. I found an Edmunds dual carb intake for it and just missed an Edmund's aluminum head. My plans are to lower it a couple inches or put air ride suspension in it. But, first I need to weld in floor pan patches and get the basics done so I can drive it around the block. Brakes are done and I have a new gas tank but have to make some minor repairs to the trunk floor before installing it. Clutch seems to be good enough for now but that will probably get replaced sooner or later.
