Default help ID rearend code JBG

Can someone please help me to sort this out?
I have an Oldsmobile Omega 1973 with a 10 bolt cover rear end - code is JBG 249 1
From the build sheet G90 3.08 RATIO AXL and according to the 1973 Oldsmobile Service Manual I would have expected the code JIC or JWC

What I found on the internet it could be from an 1973 Pontiac GTO - open C-type 3.08

Anyone some input for me?

I show it as a 1974 X-body rear end with 3.08 open rear.
Could be GTO but not a 73 GTO. (would be a wider rearend in 73?)

I imagine the Omega is a X-body so it could be original to it.
Is the car a mid to late year build?

this would be reasonable

my Omega was build in 1st week of September 1973

So maybe already the 1974 code was used for the open dif = JB gear ratio 3.08 which would fit the build sheet

249 would have been September 6th

JB (3.08:1, non-locking) was used in the 1973/4 Nova/Ventura line up, can't believe it wasn't used for the Omega. Maybe the info is wrong because the Omega was introduced in '73. You also state yours was built 1st week, Sept. 1973. That would make it a '74 model year. If you mean 1st week Sept. 1972, the assembly date on axle would be Sept. 5th, 1972.
