Default Annual physical!?!

I just called the Dr.'s office and rescheduled my annual physical. I advised that under the circumstances, I would be more comfortable doing this at a later date.

The receptionist began giving me a "your health is important to us" speech. When she was finished, I advised I appreciated their concern for my well-being but felt the risk (running the gauntlet of a waiting room incubator full of potential covid-19 dispensers/patients) far outweighed the benefits right now. I went on to say "I may be exaggerating, but waiting 6 more months for a physical seems very logical at this time."

How do you guys feel about this?

I would only go to a doctor’s office at gunpoint right now. Most doctors here have closed their practices to all patients with the exception of emergency cases.

I was supposed to have a doctor appointment in a couple weeks, but they called me the other day to reschedule. I figured they would be doing that everywhere.

My urologist has "drive through" service now. You pull up, state your name and then park, and wait in your car. They then call you on the phone to enter the building!
I'm supposed to see him on the 17th, but I think I'll just move it back a month.

I hope you don't have to pee in your car.

I'm overdue for my DOT physical and I'm going to wait. I go to the "Little Clinic" at Kroger grocery store and it seems like a hotbed of sick people (more so than usual). My usual approach is to go for the first appointment on Saturday morning before the sick people get there, but even that doesn't seem sensible right now.

My dentist called and they cancelled cleaning. I would guess pretty much all non critical medical anything will be cancelled most everywhere.

Yeah, I was little surprised at the pushback. Common sense is either in short supply at this practice or the partners' country club membership fees are due.

Maybe a balloon payment due on the condo in Hawaii.

I'll bet no doctor is going to tell you to "cough".

I was being hounded by Cigna to go for an annual physical. This is the first year they've done this in 10 years. But with this virus crap they won't see with in a mile of a doctor's office... unless I am super sick.

Called my Dental office the other day to postpone my 4/ 8 appointment. They were closed, but the recording said to my surprise, they were reopening 4/6. I went ahead and cancelled. I’ll reschedule at a later date.

I had a doctor's appointment next week. The office is in a large Hospital building. The office called and said my appointment was cancelled as well as my lab work. Rescheduled for August 8. Office is still open for really sick people.

My oncologist called me and told me only to come in for blood work and they had me come in way late in the day when no one was around. No office visits, everything is done via phone if necessary.

I was scheduled to come in for my second Shingles shot at the VA this week and was surprised when they texted to confirm it. As others have decided, I cancelled out. I have a 6 month window to complete it and it just seemed stupid to walk into that environment right now.

I had reverse shoulder replacement surgery in Feb. The last follow up I had was as this mess was starting and they’d already cut back to only seeing needed patients....of which I was one. The shoulder developed an infection which required seeing an infectious diseases specialist. That was a bit spooky then and my follow up with him this week will be via phone. I had a regular doc check up last week and a urologist appt next week that I canceled. I figured enough was enough. Given the situation with my shoulder, I have an appt with the shoulder surgeon late this month. Unless the wheels fall off with this Covid stuff at UAB, I’ll have to go.

I had my Oncology appointment on February 20th, before the CV deal became an item.

My annual physical was scheduled for March 26th at the Mayo Clinic. I got a call that my appointment was being rescheduled - new date is May 15th.

I had a dental checkup scheduled for April 16th, but early in March I was notified by my dentist's office that they were closed until further notice.

I was 5 minutes from my doctors appointment about two weeks ago when they called and rescheduled it for April 17th, That one will probably be rescheduled too. I made it almost 70 years without taking any prescription drugs on a daily basis until my last doctors visit. My blood pressure was 155/86 so the doc put me on a low dose medication called Losartan. It just happens to be one of the drugs the CDC is looking at to combat the Covid-19 virus. I was supposed to go back for blood work and a talk with my doctor to see how I am doing but it will have to wait until it's safe to go.
