Default 1968-1969 Pontiac Diagnosis Manual

Does anyone have the "1968-1969 Pontiac Diagnosis Manual" ? If so, is it worth getting?
Here is the description in the ad; "If you've got the shop manual for your 1968 or 1969 Pontiac, you've only got half the story. This book was written by GM as a companion to the shop manual and has many instructions you'd expect to find in the shop manual but don't."
I don't want to waste $40 on something that is just going to duplicate some of the others.

I'm probably biased since I've spent WAY too much money collecting factory books over the years!

Does it have diagnosis layouts not found in service manuals? - yes, but if you'll need to use it as an actual tool to trouble shoot your car, that's more of a distant maybe. With youtube, the internet, this forum, nothing in that book will tell you anything that searching a forum or posting a question can't solve. Personally I'd have jumped at $40...I know I spent way more on mine than that when I found it, but it was a hole in my collection that needed filling so it was worth it at the time to me. I can post up some pics of the various charts in there to give you a better feel for it if no one else chimes in.

as a side note, here's a handy justification for buying it: A book that's cool and has history, is original and 50 years old that you'll have forever, or half a tank of gas that's burned up in a week and you're back on empty?

Thanks for that info. I only found reprints, not originals. They are going for $39-$40 + Shipping on a number of sites. Your original is probably worth more than you paid.

I have one from Nov 68. A helpful supplement to the service manual. It has numerous diagrams and charts to aid in diagnosis that the service manual doesn't.
Best way to look at it is;
The Diagnosis manual helps you determine what's wrong.
The Service manual tells you how to fix the problem once you determined what wrong.
$40 is more than most service manuals but the diagnosis manual doesn't come up very often and AFAIK they're not reproduced.
Yours is only the second one I've heard of being available. Mine was the first and I snatched it up since I'm a document type of guy. (Retired Technical Writer amongst other things)

I've got the 68 diagnostic manual and I think it's a great addition. It has some very in depth info on various things like transmissions, AC etc. And some very helpful diagrams not seen in the service manual.
I found an old original in a binder with some of the supplements added.

I'm convinced, so I just purchased the 1968-1969 Pontiac Diagnosis Manual reprint. It was $39+ shipping. I found a lot of placing selling it between $39-$42 , so maybe it was recently reprinted??
I got it here.

I also came across a used 68 manual - (original in a notebook) on Ebay. They were asking $24. It's still there if anyone is interested.
Thanks for all the input!

I have an original 68/69 diagnosis and the only proviso I'll add is that it is more useful for a 68 than a 69 as the 69 stuff is a bit then, maybe they had a later re-issue?
