1958 Vauxhall Victor type F estate.

I had to do a lot of scouring on the net to find it.

The twin peaked hood was used starting in 1957 and discontinued in 1959 so that car could be any of those 3 years

Vauxhall, according to Wikipedia:

Quote:
Vauxhall Motors Limited is a British car brand, which is a fully owned subsidiary of German car manufacturer Opel, which in turn is owned by Groupe PSA of France. Vauxhall's vehicle lineup is identical to that of its parent, Opel, but the Vauxhall brand is exclusively used in the United Kingdom and Isle of Man. Vauxhall is one of the oldest established vehicle manufacturers and distribution companies in the United Kingdom. Its headquarters are in Park Town, Luton, Bedfordshire, England. Vauxhall

Yep, 455 in a 1973 J4000:

It's hard to see because it's lettered in white and it's not the best quality picture, but I had "455 Pontiac" lettered on the front fenders above the side marker lights. That was the third jeep I repowered, first was a 65 Wagoneer, second one was a 67 Wagoneer. I also had a 1968 Kaiser Jeep 5/4 ton military I repowered, but never finished the truck. It was to be "super wrecker" with a 455 in it also.

As you can see "It's A Girl" lettered in shoe polish on the cab of the wrecker, my daughter was just born in 1982 and things got hectic at that time, plus Pennzoil, my landlord of the gas station I have in many of my pictures, terminated the lease so they could tear down the building and build a C store. Losing the business, and having my first kid kinda threw me off course.

I see an AMC spirit in one picture and a CJ-5 in the other picture. Are or were you into AMC’s ? Ever mess with CJ-7’s?

Pontiac dealers actually sold Vauxhalls for a few years, from 1959 - 1961.

Default Back in the day

Bought this indestructable beast for 50.00 and sold for 20.00 a year later. What I wasnt told when i first drove it was that the clutch was some sort of hydraulic and you had to keep pumping it or else it would engage.Sitting at the stop sign in my little small town revving it up and by damn if it didnt take off and almost broadside a grey hair in her LTD.
Added 6x9's and amp and instant fun cruiser, great on gas until you got both thermoquads singing

I always get into these threads too late.....after they've been solved. As a life-long car nut, I remember cars that were on the road when I was 2 years old, literally. We had a Renault Dauphine and a '59 Peugeot 403. There were Vauxhalls, Simcas, Hillman's, Cortinas, Anglias, Fiats, ISU's, Morris Minors, Austins, Peugeots, and other quirky, and usually marginally reliable imports during the late '50's-mid-'60's meant to do battle with the VW Beetle, which outdid them all. Our Renault blew up in no time flat and was traded in on a brand new rag top '63 Beetle. Dad got $75 for it on the trade in. Good times.
