I'm rebuilding my 1969 Rodchester carb. I bought Cliffs book, carb kit, plug kit, and bushing kit. I read the book, but have 3 questions:
1. Kit comes with multiple power valve springs. Is the longer spring stiffer than the short one? How do choose which spring to use?idle vacume 14inches. 2. What's the proper way to remove staked throttle plate screws? 3. How do you reinstall the idle tubes? Tap them in? Thank you. Cole Last edited by Stripes; 04-06-2019 at 04:00 PM. |

As per Cliff:
Orange is the lightest spring, for big cams and low vacuum at idle. The light blue (plain color in some kits) is next, followed by the long green, then light blue. Spec's are approximate, 6-7", 7-8", 8-9" and 10" release point, lightest to heaviest.....Cliff 2. Grind the staked ends with dremel tool, and then remove with screwdriver. 3. Which tubes are you asking about?

Idle tubes. Great detail on removing them for cleaning, no mention how to re-install them.
Thank you for your responses! Last edited by Stripes; 04-06-2019 at 04:09 PM. |
