Thoroughly enjoyed my 69 Birds ( both pseudo T/As in their own way). Went back to the 68 GTO for simple reasons of simple maint & ride type.
Buddy had the tripple-white 99 T/A Convertible, drove it hard maintained it well and sold it for good money before the car got clapped-out. |

Mine doesn't, but it the lack of front sway bar and 15 x 3-1/2 front rims doesn't help...lol!

I had a buddy back in the late 70's who had a 69 Trans Am, we didn't know how rare or special the car was.

And 1999 was 20 years ago. Time flies!

So what is your opinion of the video piece? For that kind of fluff, it seemed to be decent and balanced. Acceleration times seemed about right.

I loved the 99 as a company car so much I replaced it with a 2002.Tom

Can't beat the stylings of the 1960's no matter how much hp they throw in these new cars.

There is no comparison between the two cars as a daily driver! The safety, comfort and reliability can't be compared.I sold the 69,paid off my house and built a matching clone and love driving it.When I want comfort I drive my 62 GP,when I want pure muscle I drive my 63 421SD lemans. The 69 is by far the best handling of all my cars with F&R sway bars and subframe connectors but the ride is much more harsh than my other two.FWIW,Tom

I loved my '99 Trans Am. I bought it new in Denver when I lived in Boulder. Drove it to SF later that summer. Went through Utah or Nevada doing 120mph with the cruise control on and I think the engine was spinning at like 1800rpm in 6th. Loved it. Sold it after my ex fiancee and I broke up in April of 2001. Only 34K miles on it when I sold it. It passed few a few hands and ended up in NJ somewhere. Lost track of it after that.

I still think that the '99 Anniversary TA was the best looking anniversary model.
I paused the video though to post this. An e/t of 14.6 seconds? Really? That means my 'yellow rocket' daily driver is faster!? That just doesn't seem right. I did have a guy in a hopped up(?!?) pre-98 TA try to race me many years ago, as a Pontiac/Firebird enthusiast, I felt that it was shameful how quickly I blew him away. I had actually thought that the 98-02 LS powered Firebirds were at least as fast as late model Challenger R/T's; I guess I was wrong!? (anyone, feel free to correct me)
