Default Bumper Bolts Torque with Spacer

I'm installing new bumper bolts, nuts, and new rubber spacers. With the rubber spacers between the bumper and the bracket, is there a torque specification to tighten the nuts, or just a certain amount of "squeeze" on the rubber spacers so as not to crush them.
Thanks.

I removed the front and rear bumpers of of my 64 GTO and do not remember any rubber spacers. Believe everything was "hard mounted" in 1964-65 time period.

You may want to use a little dum-dum on those bumper bolts-

Default Bumper Bolts Torque with Spacer

Here's a diagram from a '65 Service Manual. They're part # 17, Rubber Spacer about 5/32" thick. They go between the bumper and the bracket.

There definitely is a rubber gasket/spacer between the bumper brackets and bumper on the '64s, I've taken a few untouched originals apart and for sure they came with the rubber pieces.

Just tighten the bolts down like you would any other similar sized fastener, nice and tight and don't worry about the rubber squishing out.

The nuts are place lock nuts designed to stay wherever you stop tightening them. Tighten them to get the brackets where they need to be and you're done.
