65 cat at mecum.
Looks a cool yellow with dog dish caps.
Its not stating a 2+2, maybe lasy listing. If I was to estermate a price of $45k for as good as looks restored. Am I in the ball park ? , as I am trying to get a handle on what a 65 or 66 2+2 is worth, get what you paid for. Same auction has monkey mobile and a star custom 67 gto to wonder over ? Worth a look. You see '65/'66 Catalina's and 2+2s that appear to be nice anywhere from ?? $15k-$60k on the internet. Here is one on ebay right now for $25k or so
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Pontia...9bUMZr&vxp=mtr A $45k '65/'66 big car should be a really nice car IMO with a redone or perfect steering wheel, very nice interior, etc., etc. |

Just FYI Hagery's valuation guide shows a #3 condition 65 2+2 with the 376 hp. tri power HO engine valued at $20,500. That's a nice driver condition 2+2. They don't show the less hp. engine because they have none in their database.. (They've seen none go through auctions or none documented private sales). This may seem low but they get their pricing from documented sales-auctions or private sales.

That's because ebay does this - look at the message in the yellow bar at the top of the page: "The listing you’re looking for is no longer available. Check out this similar item we found for you." If you click on the word 'listing' in that message it will take you to the 1965 auction. Looks like it didn't sell.

I made an offer on it about 2 hours before it was supposed to end it was rejected. I figured it would be as I found the appraisal video for this car from over a year ago. It's got good bones as it did come from California. However the color is of course not the original white and isn't close to a 'Nightwatch Blue'. It's one of those cars that you simply drive it or enjoy it as it is or tear it down and do 'everything' and spend 50k or more on a resto. And then you've got WAY more than a factory 4bbl, automatic car is ever gonna be worth. Someone might pay 20-22k and be ok, but not 25k and not me.

This is the same car. License plate is different, but if you stop the youtube vid at 20 sec on the PHS price sticker, it's the same VIN as the ebay listing.

You will eventually find just what your looking for. I just love those 65-66 2+2's. They are just so much fun to drive and enjoy. They are also very quick with the right rear ratio and an HO engine. I love the styling of my current 62 Catalina, but a 65-66 full size is a much better driving and handling car. There were about 22,000 2+2's produced those 2 years. Your's is out there somewhere.

I am stuck on the 66 2+2 hardtop.auto or stick. The body stamping , front end and headlights are the changes / improvements I like in that year. Hay 61 thanks for that vid , John L. Sent from my SM-T585 using Tapatalk

Thanks mgrarblik for the words of encouragement.
I agree with the handling of the widetrack darksider and the fun had "fanging the twisties". The help from this py community is invaluable. Thanks John L. Quote:

Agree with you on the 66. I think the 65 and 65 B-bodies were the best driving and handling full size GM cars period, ever. I had the 66 GP at the same time as the 63 GP and the 61 Ventura so it made it very easy to draw comparisons. When I think of the (minor) mods I had to make to get the 63 to drive and handle like the 66 did with only firmer shocks and good tires, the 66 just did everything mostly right. The car was neither floaty or harsh, just tied down and level. At that time I had the same tires, Firestone Firehawks, on all of them. |
