Default Choke Parts

The choke on my 62 center carb was not working properly, so I took it apart to clean it up. Well, the plastic cover was crumbling at the edge, so I found an old choke body to cannibalize. I also noticed the baffle plate was missing, I looked for another baffle plate, and found several, but they are all different. Now I'm not sure which baffle is correct.
One is just flat with no hole, one is flat with a small tab punched out on three sides, and the other has a shield that goes over the inlet from the manifold pipe.
Anyone know which is the correct one?
Thanks, Les

The one with the shield that covers the manifold pipe opening is the correct one.

You have to be sure to put the bimetallic spring on the right way. My recent experience with my tri power set had the spring on backwards. An easy mistake to make and then not able to get the thing working properly.

Yes, I'm sure many have made that mistake. Just be sure the bent end of the spring coil "cups" the arm on the choke mechanism and you'll be fine.

It's even more confusing when you change to an electric choke coil. You may have to observe which way the spring coil moves when warming it by momentarily applying 12 volts or warming it with a hot air gun before assembly to the housing. That will show you which way it moves as it warms up after startup so the choke opens.
