Default 70 GTO - Where does this part go

I don't know where this part goes
I marked the bag "lower radiator support"
I believe that is the general vicinity
I looked everywhere in my books and online
Just put the radiator core support in possibly is in the bolt set up there?

I thought I would post a picture of my 70 GTO

Getting ready to put the clip back on.
Fully detailed with my body work skills ?

If you are that deep in a restoration you need to invest in the shop manuals. You’ll be happy you did.

It is the nut for the lower core support mounting bolt. Order is the long bolt , large washer, rubber bushing, core support, rubber bushing, large washer, then bolt goes thru large hole (about 1" dia) in bottom of frame horns,w/another large washer then the captive nut shown. The tang will then keep the nut from turning without using a wrench on the nut. I have seen some installs without the washer under the nut.

Thanks so much I am going to install tonight

The tang faces down to lock in

I believe this is correct

Thanks

The tang goes up.The bolt and rubber bushes sandwich the core support and then go on the bottom of the core support, then the nut goes inside the frame horn and the tang keeps the nut from turning 360 degrees inside the horn. You don't want to tighten the bolts all the way until the rest of your front sheet metal, bumper brackets, bumper, and valence go into place with proper alignment
since you may need to loosen the bolts to move the core support side to side or forward or back slightly. Once the other parts are in place you can't get a wrench inside the frame horn, hence the captive nut.

This is from the 71 assembly manual but should be same on a 70. Part #15 is the nut in your pic.

Oh, and check out the special core support bolt if your car was built in Atlanta in 71
