Wanted Used set of Cometics
Does anyone have a used set of 4.350 Bore , .
.039/.040 head gaskets I can borrow when we hone my block with a torque plate? Thanks!

I think I have a set let me look on the wall at home Used them to assemble the MR-1 before I pulled it all off and put heads and rotating assembly in the 500" IA2 so torqued but not fired up.

Darby I have a pair they actually do measure 4.380 but are sold as 4.350s. I can send them if you need them.
Yes you need to use a head gasket with a torque plate and the same type you are going to run for best results.

The whole reason for using the torque plate is to try and simulate to distortion a head torqued down changes to block so the hole stays round. Different head gaskets have different thicknesses as well as different shapes , wires in the metal.
I guess a even more perfect tool would be a similar head with bore holes machined out instead of the plate. Anyone ever compared roundness after a torque plate with the head bolted on? Wonder how much difference there is.
