Default brake lights and turn signal indicators working together????

After my 71 judge sat without use for a couple of months I took it out to run it a bit and found when I stepped on the brake the both turn signal indicators light up. The only thing I did since last time I drove it is remove the formula steering wheel and put the stock one back. Why would there be a connection between the brake lights and the signals, and what can I look for. Thanks in advance,

I'd say something funny with the turn signal switch.

Thanks, I decided with the fact that the signals where not working to start looking at fuses and I took a flasher out of another car and tried it and everything works fine. So I guess it had something to do internally in the flasher. It also felt kind of warm ,,,,Would have never guessed it but glad I found it, Hopefully the problem was isolated to that , Thanks for the input.
