Default New seats in 2nd Gen

Has anyone fitted latter model, or aftermarket seats in a 2nd Gen Firebird? I am thinking of putting something different in my '73 Formula so was wondering who has done what to theirs.
A mate of mine has a '68 GTO convertible and he put late model GTO seats in it. Now he is taking them out so I can get them for my car if they will fit.

So, any thoughts?
Pics and descriptions would be great.

I have seats out of a 300ZX in my 71 T/A. I bought the upholstery from legend and had them upholstered to match my interior. I like them, they are not real big like aftermarket seats which to me look out of place. The only reason I changed them is because I wanted a seat that reclines. I would say go for it. Done right they'll look fine.

One of my cars ( originals and recarros in storage ). These are 2002 Pontiac Formula "Ebony" . I removed the electrical, lined up the front holes to the original 72 seat tracks, and tack welded the back, dropped right in... Seat belts are Morris concepts, bolt it with shoulder harness

Right now I have the interior out of the 81 installed in my 71. I love the Recaro seats so much, I bought another set that are black with a dark blue center. I figure they'll work well with the blue stripe!

I also installed a rear view mirror out of a newer Silverado that tells me the temperature and has a compass.

These turned out pretty comfortable, fully adjustable bolsters and lumbar. The real feature I was looking for was recline.

Looks great! I have a complete Recaro set, The fronts need to be re covered though. Did that truck mirror need to be wired to a temp sensor and power?

The mirror was super simple to install. Originally it had something like 8 wires, but you only use 4. Key on 12v, ground, and 2 wires from the temp sensor (I think).

I have the sensor mounted behind the front grill.

i used the procar seats in my 72. they are very nice seats with great lumbar & side bolster support. they come with their own seat tracks but they position the seat up too high so i made my own brackets to attach the stock seat tracks to... they sit perfect height & work great. i found a mid 70's rear seat that has the same basic pattern so they look like they match.

i also have a spare set of mint recaros i was going to use but decided on the procars for an all black interior.

Yup. Just look for any GM truck from 99 onward, and it should have a temp mirror in it. I remove the mirror from the window, yank about 12" of pigtail out from underneath the headliner and cut it. Then I go to the front of the truck and locate the temp sensor behind the grill. I take the sensor and leave another 12" of pigtail on it. I just build the rest of the harness myself, which is super easy.

I've put them in a few cars I've owned over the years. They're nice to have!

the key is rails;
use correct seat rails for your floor, and you're golden.

it used to be quite common to see the likes of Fiero seats in these cars...

Has anyone put 2nd gen rails onto late model seats? i.e. onto the late model GTO seats I am thinking of buying?
