Default "O" rings.

I recently installed a new hose from the compressor to the new receiver dryer. I had to un do a couple hoses to get the job done. I didn't notice any rubber "O" rings when I unhooked the lines. I pulled avacuum and there is a leak. I will put some dye in and check for leaks but I was wondering about the absence of "O" rings. I suspect there may be a leak at the compressor since it is 38 years old, but it worked before I changed the engine. While changing the engine and putting the compressor aside, the hose kinked at the compressor causing small hole in the aluminum pipe. The car is a '79 Trans Am.

Should be o-rings. Are you sure they didn't fall off/out when disconnecting the hoses. Hole in pipe would cause leak also.
