Trans Brake / Line Lock on one Button?
I'd like to try to keep the clutter to a minimum and I don't like the thoughts of coiled wires wrapping around the steering column. That being said, I wann try doing the trans brake and the line lock on one button and "switch" between the two. Any recommendations on how to do this. Like a 3 position switch "ON-OFF-ON? Say to the left and it controls the trans brake. In the middle position the button is dead, and in the right position it controls the Trans Brake. How can I do this? Show me a switch that you'd suggest and how to wire said switch. I'm usually pretty good at wiring but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this.

I don't want to activate them both at the same time....but one or the other. Care to expound? |

The switch with multi-function is doable. But I wouldn't do it that way for a couple of reasons:
-Leaves a real possibility of screwing up during staging. -You want a precision type button on the brake for quick and consistent R/T. Not sure how you would have that with a switch as you described it.

That is how I did it for a long time... I had the button on the shifter, a selector switch in the center counsel(sp) and I would switch it to the drivers side for line lock and passenger side for t-brake... easy to remember...
So yes it can be done, not sure on the legal side since by the rules the t-brake button is not suppose to be broken... Chad

I have the line lock button on the shifter shaft and I just activate it with my middle finger if I am not showing it to a CV1 guy!
TB button is on the steering wheel.

I have both the line-loc and transbrake switches on the steering wheel and it hasn't proven to be a problem. Left thumb for line-loc during burnout and right thumb for trans brake during the launch. I shift the PG with a solenoid, so I'm able to keep both hands on the steering wheel at all times. The only time the spiral wires wrap around the steering column is when pulling off the track or pulling into or out of my pit spot. That hasn't been a problem at all, though I thought it might be.

I use a T-shift handle with a button on the left side. That is my line lock. I have a large red button on a pedestal for the trans brake.

Hold the brake with your left foot and hit the fuel with your right. Works for me. I would stay away from the single button. One on the shifter for the line lock and another where your comfortable pulling off of for your trans brake I think is best. I don't like the steering wheel buttons personally.

I actually have a toggle switch for my line lock (burnout) then flip it down to activate my shifter (don't want my shifter changing gears on my burnout, I like to control it myself).

Keep it simple. Don't pile on stuff to remember to do while staging.
I have LL on shifter any activate with thumb. LL also activates burnout rev limiter. Have the TB button mounted right behind shifter and use thumb to it as well. Easy to grab shifter after releasing TB. I don't like all those cables hanging off steering wheel. Keep your staging chores to a minimum. JMO.

I have a on-off-on toggle switch sticking up in the shifter plate. Forward for transbrake and back for line-loc. Have had it that way for years, but still worry about forgetting to throw the switch forward while rolling up to the line. It would seem that the procedure would be burned into me by now, but it isn't.

I have my line lock button on the shifter knob and my trans brake button next to the shifter.....I spliced in to my line lock signal wire took that to one side of a 2 way on-off switch the other side of switch took that wire strait to the trans brake so I have the trans brake signal wire,two step signal wire,and line lock signal wire all on one terminal of the trans brake switch.....the line lock doesn't function with the trans brake unless the switch is turned on........ Been running it that way on my car and Friends pro mod for this will be the 7th season now....
