Default How about a listing of the Lifts people own

That would give me (and other Board Members) a good resource for investigating each one in more depth as well as read USER info on what the Members like and dislike.

Tom, would you be opposed to also asking folks what the aprox age is of these lifts?
it would give many of us in the market for lifts an idea of whether many a name brand lift was built in the US or in SE Asia. THANKS!

OPH, as much info as people can supply would be best. Be it age of parts, availability today, $$$, install time, room required (floor space and height, (you guys know what I am saying).

Rotary SPOA7 asymetrical 2 post lift with a 7000 lb. capacity. Made in the USA. I bought it used from a lift service company for $1000 and had them deliver and install it for $500 (I wired it, it is a 220 motor) It had new sliders, cables and pulleys installed in it. It is older but works very well. I have had it about 3 or 4 years now. Parts are available (new and used) - actually through the service company I purchased it from. Needed 11'5" minimum height clearance. My bay is 26' deep and I have benches across the rear wall.

I have 3 Rotary SP07 and a Drive on 4 post lift. The 4 post does not have the beam tying the front ramps together, so nothing to hit your head on. I do have rolling jacks, but never use them. Easy to get parts and a lot of used ones to be had. a good friend has 2 Mohawk lifts, they are over built, and you cant kill one. Used 2 post Rotary lifts are easy to get $1000-1500.

Rotary mid-rise lift, purchased used from the shop I used to work at. Probably 10 years old when I got it. Sorry, I don't have the model number handy. It will lift my K1500 or Trailblazer high enough to interfere with my rafters. I can get passenger cars to the full height of the lift, though.

Because this is a frame-contact lift, it's great for brake jobs or wheel rotation; but it stinks for oil changes or exhaust work.

Bend Pak MX-10ACX, 10 years old, from asedeals.com. Had it shipped to a local truck terminal, snagged with my car trailer, assembled it myself. Love it.

One BendPak HD-9 4-post drive-on, and one BendPak XPR-9 2-post in my
garage.

They're both very nicely made, roughly 7 years old now. Bought both brand
new in 2010 directly from the New England distributor. Paid $5000 total for
the pair of them, delivered to his warehouse. I trailered them home and
installed myself. They wanted an additional $500 each for delivery and another
$500 each for install, which seemed a bit excessive.

The 4-post was easy to build and setup - no individual part was so big that two
healthy bodies couldn't handle it. The 2-post was a little more work, but still
not bad. The main columns are heavy, and I used Dad's Bobcat to lift them
into place.

When I bought them in 2010, I wanted to buy US built lifts, but even then, it was
hard to do. Mohawk, Rotary and BendPak were my top three choices. In the
end, the dimensions on the BendPak made the decision for me. They were the
best fit in my garage with its 11'7" ceiling height. Back then, Bendpak was
building their structural components in their China facility (basically, all the
steel columns, arms, etc...), but were using US made pumps/cylinders/hydraulics
and cables.

After 7 years, I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. They were hands down the best
money I ever spent towards this hobby.

Bought a Danmar 7000lb. 4 post about 7 yrs. ago, part of a group buy a then neighbor put together. $1800 each - we bought 5 and had them shipped to my business address with loading dock and forklift. I can tell you it's no BendPak or Rotary but for light use I really can't complain.

Two of us assembled it in an afternoon. Never had an issue - biggest gripe is it takes FOREVER to lower if no weight on it, but then that's not something you need to do too often. Don't think I'd care to test it at 7000lbs but it handles my '69 GTO convertible just fine and I've had a buddy's Yukon on it a couple times.

Saved untold hours doing headers/ tranny R&R/ diaper R&R, etc on the racecar; clutch R&R/ new exhaust on the goat; not to mention regular maintenance. It doesn't owe me a thing but I'd probably go with a better unit next time.

3 Rotary SPOA7 asymmetrical 2 post lifts, 7000 lb. capacity. Twenty years old now, replaced a couple of hoses and a pump through the years. Used daily.

I have a Forward I10. It's a 10,000 lb. symmetric/asymmetric 2 post. 4 years old. Use it daily. Have lifted a 171" wheelbase loaded Sprinter van with it. They are over 7000 lbs. Had a hydraulic cylinder leak when it was a few months old. New cylinder on my doorstep in 2 days. Excellent service. I think I am going to buy another one in a week or 2. If re-sale is a consideration at all, buy a certified lift. I just sold the one I am speaking about last week for only $150.00 less than I paid for it new. It made more sense than moving it to my new shop.
At my school, they have 24 Rotary 10,000 lb. 2 post lifts. They have been in service 19 years with every conceivable idiot, and I means thousands of them, operating them dozens of times a day every day of the year. They are inspected once a year. Not a single one has needed a hydraulic repair in 19 years. A very few minor safety release adjustments, lubrication and cleaning. That's all. I feel very confident stating Rotary is the best above ground 2 post lift available. If you can afford one, they are just bullet proof. They cost more than double my Forward I10. Same parent company.

I recently installed a Dannmar MaxJax and it is a 2 post mid height to 48" I have a room above my garage and limited height so it works very good. The female anchors in the floor and ability to remove the two uprights make it work well for multiple tasks when not using the hoist. I put plastic plugs in the threads of the floor when I remove the uprights to keep clean.

My challenger lift is going on 15 years old and has been moved once from old shop to new. It works just like it did on day one
